Raymond Koh’s abduction was professionally orchestrated. According to reports, he was ambushed while driving alone. Five masked men, using several vehicles, blocked his car before his disappearance. His wife, Susanna, described the act as “skilfully executed”, suggesting that the kidnappers had considerable financial resources at their disposal and had planned the operation carefully.
In April 2019, the Human Rights Commission of Malaysia (SUHAKAM) concluded that Raymond Koh had been the victim of an enforced disappearance and abduction organized by the state, more specifically by the Special Branch of the Royal Malaysia Police. Faced with the mobilization, the government then appointed a task force to determine the whereabouts of Raymond Koh. This group of investigators was due to report back within six months. However, in January 2020, the government announced that the investigators needed additional time to complete their report, which has still not been published to this day.
Since the disappearance of her husband, Susanna Koh has waged a relentless campaign to try and find him. The case has attracted a great deal of international attention.
In June 2023, the Koh family took legal action to try to shed light on the circumstances surrounding the kidnapping. The trial, which took place in the High Court of Kuala Lumpur, was a moment of hope for Susanna and her children, although it also revived painful memories. On August 15, 2024, a turning point came when the court ordered the release of a crucial report on the abduction, which was gratefully received by Susanna, who expressed her gratitude to those praying for her family.
Despite years of silence and uncertainty, the Koh family continues to show faith and determination. They invite those who wish to do so to support them with prayers and encouragement, in the hope that one day the truth about Raymond Koh’s fate will be revealed.
