The world can no longer bear this procession of suffering.
Lord, hear you not the cry of our brothers?
Cry of all of the victims of wars,
cry of murdered children,
cry of children pushed onto battlefields,
cry of victims of vengeance and of repression,
cry of the starving and the exiled,
cry of the dehumanized, mistreated, tortured inmates,
cry of the people sentenced to death awaiting their execution,
cry of the executioners before their own conscience.
Lord, hear you not the cry of our brothers?
A cry has broken the silence; a cry has opened a gap.
No, the world is not condemned to die.
Suffering and violence are not inevitable.
In this night, humanity is searching and wondering
how to deal with violence?
With our own violence? With our own cowardice?
Lord, hear our cry.
