21Let us rejoice on this day of the Resurrection
For Christ, who was mocked, crowned with thorns, hung on the cross yesterday
Today rises from the tomb
Let us rejoice as Christ brings into his light
those who were held captive by the darkness of hell
Let us rejoice in this spring of life
As hope pours out among the victims of wars,
Among those afflicted in body and in spirit
Let us rejoice, for by the cross all sadness is taken away
And joy floods the world
Let us rejoice, because the Lord has descended deeply
into the hearts of humans where anguish lies;
He visits them, He illuminates them
And torments, anguish, hell are vanquished
Engulfed in the depths of the open love from the Lord’s pierced sides
Let us rejoice, for he is risen, the Christ, the eternal joy
