I believe that tomorrow will see the day,
that tomorrow will be light…
After so much time waiting, so many hidden hopes
hardly murmured at the edge of the lips, or touched with finger tips,
after so many stifled festivities, so many dead cries before being born.
I believe our eyes will open at last.
I believe that all men’s sight will be born,
that the entire world will be this eye opened wide on the dawn of our earth.
I believe this, even while every thing is shaking and disappearing,
even while the night seems to me to be an eternity,
such that our hands reach out to encompass the void,
that the echo of our footsteps looses itself in the silence,…
And I believe, Lord, that you are already the light I await!
