For Our Brothers, Come Holy Spirit

How could we live according to the Gospel

without the intervention of the Holy Spirit?

Therefore we beseech:

Come Spirit of mercy, come

and we will go bear with our brothers the misery which destroys their soul and body.

Come Spirit of gentleness, come

and we will go place on our brothers that kindness which is our daily bread.

Come Spirit of poverty, come

and we will go give to our brothers what we have and they lack.

Come Spirit of Peace, come

and we will go build with our brothers the promised land of equal justice for all.

Come Spirit of justice, come

and we will go fight with our brothers for the dignity that has been taken from them.

Come Spirit of consolation, come

and we will go offer our weeping brothers the comfort of our presence.

Come Spirit of believers,

come make us similar to the one who, in order to give birth to another earth, left his body broken like bread for those who hunger.

Come Spirit of God,

Come shape within us the spirit of the Gospels!
