Many Orthodox theologians and spiritual leaders reject the idea of hell as a definitive distancing from God ; the separation will not take place in a last judgement with the good people on one side and the bad on the other - but inside each person between the positive and the negative within him or her. Indeed, the pure souls will not enter immediately into the plenitude of the vision of God but will wait until all of humanity and all of creation be saved. Prayer for universal salvation is very wide-spread in the Orthodox World. One isn’t saved alone but in communion. When the final Resurrection occurs, people will draw a transfigured body from the well of the transfigured flesh of the world. And we have the hope that the Spirit will blow strongly enough that all be carried away into God.
