Daniel Gwynn
United States

Sentenced to death in Pennsylvania in 1995. He is accused of setting fire to a homeless shelter, a fire in which a woman perished.

He asked to change his confession to the police, which was made under duress and while he was weaning himself off hard drugs.
A law professor who revisited Daniel’s criminal record, believes the confession contains many inaccuracies and that there is no evidence to corroborate the facts. Indeed : there was no investigation following Daniel’s signed confession even though residents of the home informed the authorities that a certain "Rick" had sent them death threats shortly before the fire because they had testified against him in a murder case.

Daniel is 48 years old today. He has spent 23 years on death row in very harsh conditions. He spends most of his time in solitary confinement, a practice comparable to torture, causing severe moral and physical damage.

Daniel is part of the ACAT correspondence program amongst other convicts in the United States.
